America's Cup & Polish Traveling Fellowship

The other exciting thing is that we had Piotr Czarnecki a visiting hand surgeon and upper extremity surgeon from Poland on a traveling fellowship hosted by The American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He spent the week with me in my practice in the office and operating room and being a yachtsman himself, I was delighted to have him accompany me to watch the America’s Cup Race #15 from a fantastic vantage point just above Ghirardelli Square. Piotr Czarnecki is an extremely talented surgeon who attends virtually all the international meetings and has a wonderful global perspective on hand and upper extremity surgery, health care, and our various political institutions. We had lots to talk about on the eve of the healthcare reform and a potential budget crisis here in the US.

This coming week I am participating in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand annual meeting right here in San Francisco and I’ll have more on that next week. Take care!
