I had the opportunity to visit with Dr. Neil Jones, who is a University Professor at the University of California Los Angeles and Past President of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
On September 25, The 2014 Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand Travelling Fellows was hosted here in SF by Dr. Edward Diao. They were on a stop from their tour of the US that included the American Society for Surgery of the Hand 69th Annual Meeting in Boston, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri; University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, New York.
Dr. Yoshitaka Hamada presented his series on microsurgical free flap reconstruction and Dr. Ryosuke Ikeguchi presented his series on adjustable lengthening external fixators for hand and upper limb trauma. Thursday, September 25, 2014, they spent the day in Dr. Diao’s clinic seeing patients with him. Lunch was held at California Pacific Medical Center on the Davies campus where they dined with members of the Hand/Microsurgery team based at the Buncke Clinic. They spent the afternoon and the next day observing cases at CPMC Davies viewing micro surgery, and nerve and soft tissue reconstruction in the upper and lower limbs. That evening Dr. Diao hosted both surgeons at his home for relaxation and rejuvenation.
These kind letters were received from Dr.Yoshitaka Hamada and Dr. Ryosuke Ikeguchi
