The Saint Francis Foundation and the Tenderloin Health Improvement Project

A special benefit for Tenderloin Health Improvement Partnership hosted by Saint Francis Foundation, City Building, Inc., and San Francisco Giants. Tenderloin HIP, founded by St. Francis Foundation, is a cross-sector collective impact initiative that is focused on improving community health, safety, and the well-being for over 33,000 individuals that reside in the Tenderloin. St. Francis Foundation collaborated with the Community Health team at St. Francis Memorial Hospital to address underlying health disparities, social determinants, and inequalities that reside in the Tenderloin. Tenderloin HIP receives a broad spectrum of support from public, private, and not-for-profit stakeholders.

The goal of this foundation is to improve the health, safety, and well-being of those that live and work in the Tenderloin neighborhood.

The office of Dr. Diao was proud to attend Knock It Out Of The Park. We value the importance of reaching out to our local communities and non-profit organizations in an effort to improve the quality of life for residents of the San Francisco Bay Area.

It was an amazing experience to walk into AT&T Park and have access to the field and dugout.  We were greeted by photographers who took our photos as we walked down the right field steps to the visitor dugout.  There was a variety of delicious foods that lined the first and third base lines, a candy bar for the kids, and an open bar for the adults.  The atmosphere was fun and lively as we ate, drank, and played over the sounds of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Nirvana, and The Jackson 5.  The first game of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers played on the big screen in center field as the kids were stepping up to the plate for the Knock It Out of the Park contest.

There’s something nostalgic about being on your favorite team's field at night with the lights on.  We played catch along the third base line until it was the adults turn to Knock It Out of the Park.  Former Giants pitcher Bill Lansky took to the mound for a few solid innings on the evening.  Unfortunately, we all fell short of the meager 309 feet necessary to reach the bleachers in the left field, but it was a ball nonetheless.
