Greetings from New Orleans!

AAOS ANNUAL MEETING 2014 IN NEW ORLEANS - SUPERDOME

The annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons was held in the city of New Orleans. My colleague and great friend from the Harvard Orthopedic residency program days, Joshua Jacobs, was the AAOS President and has done a tremendous job in leading our organization, advocating for patients, physicians, and musculoskeletal research. He is chairman at Rush Medical Center in Chicago Illinois. I enjoyed being his guest at the Presidential Reception held in the Superdome and hearing his addresses at the meeting and at the Orthopedic Research Society meeting. In my role as Chairman of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand Commercial Support Committee and Corporate Advisory Council, we had 15 hours of face-to-face meetings with leaders in the orthopedic industry regarding collaboration with the ASSH to benefit patients. They were excited to hear about the digital platform which is being rolled out by the ASSH, in which all of the educational content the society produces will be available on remote devices. This will be coupled with an exhaustive catalog of instructional videos and important information to help surgeons to take care of patients and access products that are used in surgery through the Industry Guide that I am tasked to help develop.
