American Society for Surgery of the Hand - Annual Meeting in San Francisco

Despite Covid, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand held their 76th Annual Meeting in San Francisco, September 2021. Although attendance was lower than in previous years, engagement was high by all who were there. I started my 2-year term as President of the American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand at that meeting.

Another high point for me was the University of California San Francisco Hand Surgery Service reception and dinner.

As the Founder of the Hand Fellowship, and Emeritus Chief of the Hand Service, I was delighted to see a table full of present and past, and indeed future faculty and trainees.

I was able to share the evening with some of my dear colleagues.

This photo shows three eras of leadership for the UCSF Hand and Upper Extremity service.

Lisa Lattanza now serves as Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery at Yale. Nicole Strauss Schroeder, a former UCSF resident, is the new Chief of the service. Congratulations to them both!
