The San Francisco Pride Parade was a special event in 2015. The parade coincided with the Supreme Court ruling that it is legal for all Americans have the right to marry no matter their gender or sexual orientation. In terms of history, SF Pride commemorates the June 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City’s Greenwich Village.

Here is San Francisco the SF Pride event is a civic event in which corporations, community groups, and individuals join together to demonstrate solidarity and inclusion of rights of all citizens.

Did You Know?

In the 1978 San Francisco Pride Parade, the first rainbow flag made its debut. The flag was designed by artist Gilbert Baker, the original was hand-dyed and consisted of eight symbolic colors: Hot Pink (sexuality), Red (life), Orange (healing), Yellow (sunlight), Green (nature), Turquoise (magic, art), Blue (serenity/harmony) and violet (spirit).
