SF Opera Musician Resumes Playing the Cello

Emil & Dr. Diao
Emil & Dr. Diao

Emil is a longtime cello player for the San Francisco Opera. He came to me with increasing difficulty in both hands resulting in inability to do activities of daily living and play the cello. I diagnosed bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome without any other nerve compression signs or symptoms. Four and 3 months after the endoscopic carpal tunnel releases for both digits, he is thrilled to be able to resume playing the cello.

I was lucky enough to have him bring his cello to the office and demonstrate how well he is doing.
