American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery 2017 Annual Meeting, San Diego, CA - March 14th-18th

The 2017 American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery annual meeting was held in San Diego, California. With 30,000 attendees from around the world… Orthopedic surgeons, and corporations that service orthopedic surgery attend this convention. There are over 230 lectures, instructional courses and symposia as well as social events for people to gather. I was able to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, learn new techniques and discover new products.

I was invited to the Presidential Reception held at the San Diego Aerospace Museum.

Other key events included the annual reception for all AOA/AAOS travelling fellows, past and present. This represents the leadership of our specialty and industry. I chair the ASSH Commercial Support Committee and we had 8 hour-long sessions with industry leaders regarding collaborative efforts to expand education, research and outreach for upper extremity surgery.

I once again participated in the Ask an Expert Series of case presentations with audience participation Q & A, held right in the main Exhibit Hall.

The mission of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) is to foster and assure the highest quality musculoskeletal health care through: education of Orthopedists, other providers of health care and the public, promotion of research; communication with other professionals and the public, and leadership in the development of health care policy.
