I had the pleasure of being a special invited guest and keynote speaker at the 69th Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand Annual Meeting.
My first research fellow when I was division chief at the University of California, San Francisco, Osamu Soejima, MD, was the president of this meeting.
In addition to my keynote address about the relationship between the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand, I also gave remarks at the presidential dinner, and participated in two panels on basal joint reconstruction and the future of hand clinics.
This was an outstanding opportunity for me to reconnect with my friends in Japanese hand surgery since 1996 and also make new friends.
As usual, if there is a meeting in Fukuoka, there is always tennis, and we enjoyed a tennis round-robin event after the meeting.
Congratulations to Osamu for an outstanding meeting with over 2,000 participants.
