ASSH 71st Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas

The 71st annual meeting of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand took place for the first time in Austin, Texas. This turned out to be a fantastic venue for the meeting. Over 2000 physicians attended this meeting. The variety of educational opportunities as well as social events is unparalleled for the upper extremity surgeon. As a past member of the Board of the ASSH, known as the Council, and as a present Committee Chair for the Corporate Advisory Council and Commercial Support Committee, I enjoyed participating and dispensing with my various obligations at this meeting. And as an added bonus, I was able to attend Austin City Limits for the first time and take in this amazing music event. Of course, the local beer and barbecue helped make for an outstanding time in Austin.

For anybody who is planning to attend Austin for business or pleasure, I highly recommend the W Austin Hotel. Grab a bike and ride around this city, take in the rivers and the parks, and go on a riverboat cruise like we did for the annual reunion of the Roosevelt hand service, AKA the Littler Eaton Glickel Society.
