Boston Strong, and America, Proud

This is the day of the Boston marathon. One year ago a tragedy befell this hallowed event. My college friend and dorm mate Gov Deval Patrick of Massachusetts entertained me the Spring of 2013, a few months before he coined the unforgettable phrase at the memorial service after the bombings..."Massachusetts made America!"

Being here in Boston one year after, one can't help but be struck by the tremendous pride and spirit of this town and the world that calls Boston it's own on Patriot's Day and Marathon Monday. Having trained and toiled at the institutions that were central to the incredible response to the injured and wounded, Massachusetts General, Beth Israel, Brigham & Women's, Boston Children's Hospitals, there is a great deal of pride in how well the medical community worked and many heroes played a role in the aftermath. I also take pride in the combat medical experience that has been spread to the civilian medical community thru programs such as the ones sponsored by the Research Committee of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery of which I was a member.

Here are some pictures taken the day before the 2014 marathon on Boylston Street at the finish line.
